What is Rotary?
Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million volunteers who unite to serve the needs of their local communities and to contribute to projects in other parts of the world.
Rotary has been working to eradicate polio worldwide for more than 30 years. In 2020, Africa was determined to be free from epidemic polio, leaving only Afghanistan and Pakistan in the epidemic stage.
There are two ways to help:
The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach actively serves our local community with a host of outreach initiatives. For instance, each month we provide a grocery cart of food to more than 300 underserved families and provide children with books through the Dolly Parton Imagination Foundation. Donations to Rotary will directly fund worthwhile initiatives such as these.
Donations can also be made to Barefoot Seeds, a Rotary partner that helps the indigenous Tarahumara communities in the Copper Canyons of Mexico. The Tarahumara are considered the world’s best runners, as running the canyons has been essential to their culture since the 16th century. Sadly, that culture is in danger because of drought, logging and the competition for water from infiltrating drug cartels.
Due to COVID, the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach is struggling to keep our community-based projects and fundraisers alive, making the success of our 10th Anniversary Race of the Runways more important than ever.
